The Sacred Harp uses shaped notes, which make it easy to learn how to read music. Although the texts embody Christian beliefs, singers come to Sacred Harp from all faith backgrounds. They are drawn by the unique sound of the harmonies, the powerful singing, and the joy of making music with other people. This workshop is intended for people who do not read staff notation well, or at all, and who need a thorough introduction so that they can join a singing community. Music readers are also welcome.
